Composting 101 with 4-H & NYSDEC
4-H is hosting a guest speaker from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation to bring youth a hands-on Composting 101 program! Participants will learn the basics of composting, why it's important for the environment and soil health, and how to start their own compost at home. From how to reduce food scraps for use in recipes to the importance of diverting food waste from our landfills to management of yard and garden waste, youth will discover how to turn every day materials into cookies, breads, muffins, soups, and nutrient-rich soil while helping reduce waste and contributions to greenhouse gases which have negative impacts on our atmosphere and climate.
This program is open to 4-H members 5 to 19 years old. This event is free, but registration is required.
