About Us

Our Team

Located at Barton Hall, the Cornell Division of Public Safety’s Emergency Communications Center is staffed 24/7 by a team of twelve rotating full-time telecommunications officers, three shift coordinators, an assistant director, and director. Telecommunications officers receive basic and advanced training certifications from the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO).

Our full-time telecommunications staff at Cornell University undergo a rigorous training program that features seven weeks of classroom study, eight weeks of on-the-job training, and a two week final evaluation phase. Telecommunications officers are considered probationary for one year after their hire date.

The communications center fields and dispatches calls for the Cornell Police (CUPD), the Community Response Team (CRT), Cornell Emergency Medical Service (CUEMS), Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), and more.

The communications center is available to contact any time by phone at 607.255.1111, e-mail at cu_police@cornell.edu, picking up a Blue Light Phone on campus, or by utilizing the Text Public Safety feature in the RAVE Guardian app.
