Tuesday February 3rd, 2pm-5pm
TASTE NY Building, CCE Broome County
Cost: $10

Are you a REALTOR who specializes in farmland or rural properties? Or maybe you are looking to learn more as the interest from those out the areas grows looking for farmland. Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County as we explore how to support our agricultural community. We'll cover the following topics:

  • Negotiating deals that include equipment, livestock, or crop inventory – how to value these pieces as well as farmland in general

  • Trends shaping farmland demand: carbon markets, agri-solar, land leases for renewable energy

  • Understanding USDA programs, grants, and loans buyers may rely on

  • Working with first-time farm buyers: expectation-setting and reality

We will be joined by Rebecca Stone, Certified General Appraiser, Agrinomic Insights, LLC, Alan Hinds, PhD candidate, Cornell University Dyson School of Applied Economics & Management, and Lynnette Wright, NYS Farm Service Agency, NY State Outreach and Public Affairs Specialist & NY USDA Beginning Farmer Coordinator.

The cost to attend this training is $10 which includes coffee and light refreshments. Support for this program comes from the Greater Binghamton Association of REALTORS and Farmland for a New Generation initiative through American Farmland Trust-NY.
