Fit for Duty: Form and Function in Military Dress
Fit for Duty: Form and Function in Military Dress — an interdisciplinary exhibition on form, function,
and service — explores how military uniforms have evolved in aesthetics, silhouette, material, and
visual symbolism—shaping ideals of discipline, identity, and design. Presented across two campus
sites, the exhibition connects historical military dress to contemporary fashion, student design, and
veteran storytelling. Complementary programming includes a Cornell Cinema film series, gallery
talks, and a Veterans Day opening reception.
The exhibit will be held in the Rachel Hope Doran '19 and Terrace Level Vitrines, Human Ecology Building and Wortham Museum, Barton Hall
Opening reception and curator talk Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 4:30 PM (1630) on the Terrace
Level of the Human Ecology Building.
