Calling all Monroe County community members, gardeners, and land stewards! Join us to learn about biochar from local professionals and partake in a biochar "burn" using our Kon-Tiki kiln. All participants receive a bucket of biochar to take home and apply to their own growing spaces. Please note: upon arrival to workshop, attendees will be required to sign a risk waiver. This event will be canceled in event of rain or high winds.

This outdoor educational workshop will provide hands on experience in biochar production, a presentation and Q&A from regional biochar experts, including Kathleen Draper, author of BURN: Using Fire to Cool the Earth and Board Chair Emeritus for the International Biochar Initiative (IBI). Learn about biochar's impact on soil fertility and carbon sequestration abilities. Leave with an understanding on how to integrate biochar in your own gardening practices!
