Daily Crime & Fire Logs
Pursuant to the Clery Act, the Cornell Police Department publishes a daily crime log for any crime that occurred on the university’s Clery Geography or within the patrol jurisdiction of the department and is reported to the Cornell Police directly. Environment Health and Safety publishes a Daily Fire Log for any reported fires that occur in on-campus residential housing facilities.
The Daily Crime Log contains the most recent 60-day period and includes the date the crime was reported, the date and time the crime occurred, the nature of the crime, the general location of the crime, and the disposition of the complaint. The log is intended to provide crime information on a timelier basis than the annual statistical disclosures. Crimes are entered into the log within two business days of being reported to the Cornell Police. At times, certain information may be temporarily withheld to protect victim confidentiality, to prevent hindering an ongoing investigation, or to keep a suspect from fleeing.
