Swatting
Swatting involves fake emergency calls intended to trigger a large-scale police response to an unsuspecting victim’s address. Unfortunately, college campuses, including Cornell, have been swatting targets recently. Cornell Police must take such instances seriously to ensure the safety of the campus community. Victims of swatting or bystanders should remain calm and follow instructions given by law enforcement to ensure everyone’s safety. Cornell Police are working closely with state, federal and collegiate partners to investigate these crimes.
