Solar Eclipse

March 29, 2024

On Monday, April 8, Ithaca will experience a partial eclipse and Geneva a full eclipse between 3 to 4 p.m., a cosmic event that will not happen here again until 2044. If you have a chance to see it, be sure to always wear certified solar viewing glasses or use a safe handheld solar viewer while watching the eclipse. Sunglasses are not enough to protect your eyes. Check out this video of Cornell astronomers sharing their expertise on solar eclipses and safety tips.

Please have a safe and restful break. Don’t forget to lock your rooms, homes, offices and labs before leaving, regardless of how long you will be gone. The weekly safety message will resume on April 12.
