Cornell University

Reporting Crime and Bias

November 2, 2023

Emergency Management’s action guide offers advice on what to do if you find yourself in an emergency situation. Additional resources include how to download and use Rave Guardian, preparedness resources including potential lifesaving actions, such as “Run, Hide, Fight,” and more.

As always, I strongly encourage anyone who is witnessing violence or crime to call 911 or contact us through Rave Guardian. Likewise, I encourage anyone that has been subjected to bias activity to report it to the university so that it can be investigated and the proper action taken. Take full advantage of the many resources available on campus, including from the Division of Public Safety and the Cornell Police.

The Cornell Police thoroughly investigate all crimes reported to them and do their best to hold violators accountable. We encourage you to continue to report them to us. If you are unsure of the best route by which to report, call us and we can guide you, 24 hours a day. Other assistance is quickly available to you through the Office of Institutional Equity and Title IX and through the links I send you every week at the bottom of this message.

Working together, we can make Cornell a safer place for all.
