Cybersecurity Awareness Month
October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Cornell takes threats that could jeopardize your privacy or finances very seriously. Scams are becoming more sophisticated – stay informed about modern methods to avoid being a victim. For example, phishing can be personalized – be aware of attempts masquerading as your friends, family or even “an urgent request from your boss” asking you to purchase gift cards or other such requests. Don’t click links in these emails and do not reply to them. Instead, reach out to your friends, family or colleagues who “sent the message” directly via a clean email or a phone call. Visit it.cornell.edu to learn more about Cornell’s cybersecurity tools and contact the IT Security Office with questions.
